Mark Seltzer
“I have lived in VT on and off again for eleven years, starting with my time in graduate school and returning in 2018. I live and work in Montpelier and frequent the Co-op for produce, dry goods and snacks. I have long frequented the Co-op but, became a member in February 2024. In my free time I enjoy outdoor activities, planting my garden and giving back to the community. I am involved in the new Montpelier Neighbor Net and am a weekend Ski Patroller with the Mount Mansfield Ski Patrol. I was previously on the Montpelier Energy Advisory Committee.
I am interested in giving back to the community and supporting a critical community hub and source of sustenance for the community. I work well with others as a collaborator and team player. I am well organized and as an attorney and past Information Technology professional who can think outside the box, I believe I have a lot of skills I can bring to the table as various scenarios arise. I am passionate about environmental sustainability and would be happy to assist the Co-op as needed for various environmental goals and efforts. Reviewing the year-end presentation, I was excited to see the Co-op is tracking and reducing, CO2 emissions!

Flood resiliency and climate change are opportunities and challenges. The Co-op is in a floodplain as is some of the membership base in the surrounding cities. While this topic has been part of a past Co-op Dinner and Discussions and the 2024 Annual Meeting, it is imperative to keep the dialogue front and center. The Co-op can lead the way in innovative approaches to ensure the Co-op’s longevity and serve as a model of climate change resiliency for the community.”
